Frequently Asked Questions

Parking

Where should we park?

Ting Pavilion is located right in Downtown Charlottesville and we do not have any on site parking. We strongly recommend that our patrons park in the Water Street Parking Garage (100 and 200 blocks of East Water Street) which is a very short walk to the Pavilion. There is also a smaller garage at 550 E Market Street which will almost always have ADA spaces even if the rest of the spaces are full. The garage charge $2 an hour with the first hour free. You can always try your luck to find a free on street space but we can almost always guarantee you will find a spot in the Water Street garage.  You can reserve a space in either garage with the ParkMobile app.

Ticketing & Seating

How can I purchase tickets?

You can purchase tickets securely online through the individual event links on our website here or go to Ticketmaster.com.

On show days, you can buy tickets at the Box Office at the gate of the Ting Pavilion for all shows currently on sale. Tickets can also be purchased in person from the JeffersonTheater box office on any night when there is a show at that venue (open two hours prior to show time).

The Ting Pavilion sells tickets online through Ticketmaster.com exclusively. Please be careful when searching for tickets online, as Secondary Market/"Scalper" sites are often the first results to appear. Tickets purchased through these other sites may or may not be legitimate, and our Box Office cannot resolve any issues involving them, such as lost or invalid tickets. To be clear, the following websites are scalpers and should be avoided: Tickets-Center, Ticketsales, TicketsOnSale, VividSeats, Stubhub, SeatGeek, to name a few. ONLY use Ticketmaster for Ting Pavilion events. If you are not at Ticketmaster.com, you are on the wrong website to purchase tickets for all of our great shows.

Where is your Box Office and when is it open?

Our Box Office is only set up and open on days when we have a ticketed event.  It is under the large hexagonal tent structure with the blue roof directly across from the front door of City Hall right on the Mall.  We open up one hour before Gates open for the event.

What does general admission mean?

General admission means that seating is not assigned or reserved. When a show is labeled General Admission, the entire Pavilion will be open on a first-come, first-served basis. Most times a GA show will also mean that the floor closest to the stage is open for dancing with a limited numbers of chairs set out in the back half of the venue. Please note that the venue reserves the right to restrict access to the floor in front of the stage if it reaches full capacity in the interest of everyone’s safety.

Our lawn tickets are always general admission and allow you to grab space anywhere on the rear lawn or on the plazas above the seating area.

What does “LV” or “Limited View” mean on my tickets?

We do have a limited number of seats in our Upper Orchestra section that we consider limited view because the sight-lines from these seats can sometimes be obstructed by folks walking in front of them or by folks in our Reserved Box area.

These seats are always the last ones we offer for sale and will always be marked with “LV” to prevent any confusion. These are in the first couple of rows of each Upper Orchestra section and are still under cover and offer great sound.

Can I bring a lawn chair?

Low back lawn chairs or beach chairs are allowed in the general admission lawn area. Please be considerate of your neighbors when setting up chairs. (Our definition of low back chairs means the back of the chair does not come above your shoulders when you are sitting in it.)

Can I bring a cooler or backpack?

We do allow coolers and back packs but we will have our security folks take a look inside when you are coming in the gates. Please remember that no glass or alcohol or other prohibited items can be brought in.

How do I get a refund?

Refunds are issued only if the show is canceled or rescheduled. If you have purchased online through Ticketmaster, this will be an automatic process.  If you have bought through a third party reseller, then you will need to follow up with them.

But what if it is raining?

Wear rain gear! All events are rain or shine.

Where is my seat?

Each show at Ting Pavilion is unique and there are multiple seating arrangements. While many shows are all General Admission, others are a mix of seated + GA, and others are completely seated.

Please reference the individual event page for the seating arrangement for the show you are interested in. For seated shows, if you are facing the stage, our seats are numbered from right to left.  The Ticketmaster site will allow you to pick your exact seat.

Ages

Do children need tickets to enter?

Children 3 and under are not required to have a ticket to Ting Pavilion shows as long as their parents have a general admission ticket. If the parents have a reserved seat ticket, then all accompanying children must also have their own ticketed seat.

Are there age restrictions on the shows?

Ting Pavilion is all ages. We do however request that children under 13 be accompanied by an adult.

Special Assistance

Is Ting Pavilion handicap accessible?

Absolutely, Ting Pavilion is accessible to handicapped patrons. Our entire venue is ADA accessible and we have a ramp from the concession level down to the seating area. Our staff will always be glad to assist if you need any assistance.

Where are your handicap tickets and how can I order them?

Whenever we have a Reserved Seated show, we will offer handicap and companion seating in each price level. To order them, select ADA on the Ticketmaster site or call 434-245-4924 for help with any questions.

What if I have a special need?

The management and staff of Ting Pavilion are dedicated to providing access and reasonable accommodations to all participants. Reasonable accommodations will be provided for persons with disabilities if requested prior to 48 hours of the event. Please notify Pavilion staff if you are in need of special assistance by calling 434-245-4924.

Can I bring my Service Animal?

We do allow trained service animals that are required to assist you with specific tasks.  Unfortunately we cannot allow emotional support animals.

Vending

What kind of food and drink are available?

We have a variety of food vendors and food trucks that partner with us and vend inside Ting Pavilion. They are all generally to the house left side of the venue on the concession plaza.  Each vendor sells independently; most take cash although some can take credit cards.

We also offer beer and wine for patrons above the age of 21. Please see our alcohol policies below.

Can I bring in my own food and drink?

Yes – you may bring your own food and beverages into Ting Pavilion, but we do not allow any glass containers or outside alcoholic beverages. All outside beverages must be in a factory-sealed container- no water bottles or other refillables. All bags and containers are subject to search, so please make sure that you don’t have any glass or alcohol or else it will be confiscated and thrown away.

Do you have an ATM onsite?

No- but there is one less than a block from our front gate. We do allow exit and re-entry if you need to get cash.  We do accept cards for our concessions and most artist merch reps also accept cards.

Policies

Security Procedures

We at the Ting Pavilion strive to provide a safe, enjoyable environment for all patrons, the performers, and our staff.  For all events, including Fridays After Five, all patron points of entry include a bag check. We encourage our patrons to travel light but, if you do have bags or packages with you, plan for the entry to take a few moments as our staff inspects bags. We appreciate your patience so that we can all feel safe. Unfortunately, we do not offer any bag check so please familiarize yourself with our list of prohibited items and leave them at home.

For all ticketed events, all patrons will be asked to pass through our metal detectors after emptying their pockets of any metal objects. Patrons may opt for a pat down inspection should they choose. Once again, we appreciate your patience as we work to ensure the safety of all of our patrons.

Smoking

Smoking is only permitted on the concession plazas of the venue. Smoking is not allowed anywhere under the pavilion cover or on the lawn. Please respect your fellow concertgoers and smoke only on the brick plazas.

Alcohol

Ting Pavilion offers a selection of beer and wine at most shows. We encourage our patrons that choose to consume alcohol to do so responsibly and please make sure you have a safe ride home. You must be 21 in order to purchase and consume alcoholic beverages. All local, state, and federal laws are strictly enforced. Anyone violating any laws, including: public intoxication, using illegal drugs, or underage drinking, will be ejected immediately with no appeal and no refund. Charlottesville Police do provide security within the Pavilion and will assist our staff in enforcing the law.

All alcoholic beverages at the Pavilion are served through a ticket system. Anyone who wishes to drink must present a valid, photo I.D at any of the I.D. checkpoint stations in exchange for an “over 21” wristband, please keep this wristband on as long as you plan to drink or hold alcoholic beverages. After getting your wristband, you then purchase your drink tickets at the green tent, and then redeem your tickets for your drinks at the drink stations. The beer and wine stations do not take cash. We do reserve the right to limit alcohol sales for any reason.

Cameras & Taping

Most performers include a clause in their contract that states that they do not allow audio or video recording and photography. Therefore we must ask that you leave all cameras and recording equipment at home. This also includes iPads.  If there are any exceptions to this rule, we will clearly mark them on our website in the detailed event information.

Re-entry

Re-entry is allowed at most of our ticketed events. If you plan to leave and come back, you will receive a hand stamp and then will need to show your hand stamp and ticket for reentry. Some shows may not allow re-entry, in which case we will post that policy on our website and at the gates for that show.

Lost & Found

We maintain a lost and found for items left after events at the venue. If you have left a valuable behind, e-mail us at found@charlottesvillepavilion.com or call the office: 434-245-4910. We will have a list of found items 24 hours after each event.

Fundraising

How can my charitable group raise funds at Ting Pavilion events?

Ting Pavilion is always looking to partner with non-profit groups that can provide us with volunteers to work on behalf of their charitable cause. We will need staff to help out as concession workers, ID Checkers, and perimeter security at both our Fridays After Five and Bud Light Concert Series. If you have a group of hard-working, responsible volunteers that want to have fun while raising money for your group, then give us a call at 245-4910 or e-mail info@charlottesvillepavilion.com.
