Fridays After Five: Cherry Red

with Ark of Mark

FRIDAYS AFTER FIVE | BUD LIGHT CONCERT SERIES

Cherry Red - All Stones, All The Time

Cherry Red (est. 2017) was born in the mind of award winning songwriter, guitarist, keyboardist and Keith Richards fanatic, Stephen Pollock.  His concept was to put together a band to do not necessarily Rolling Stones’ music note for note but to certainly capture the correct feel and attitude.  Stephen has studied Richard’s stylings and tunings that are at center of the Stones sound.  The Human Riff, indeed!

Cherry Red is a three-time Fridays After Five headliner. They secured their 1st headlining spot after playing together for a mere four months. They are favorites of the brewery/ciderworks scene. Pro Re Nata, Lousia Taphouse, Coyote Hole are among the venues they return to often.

Cherry Red did not emerge overnight. There were several false starts but finally all the right musicians were assembled. Meet the other musicians in this fine group:

Carl Moyer: drums and vocals. Carl has played with many excellent groups including Jimmy O’s Palomino Band and PTF. A superb time keeper, he keeps his style straight forward and solid.

Nick Pollock: lead vocals, guitar. Nick is the son of Stephen Pollock. At 27, Nick is the youngest member of the band. He has been gigging as a solo artist, singer/songwriter, since the age of 15. He received a great deal of local airplay with his song, “Home”, featuring Erin Lunsford as a guest vocalist. Their voices blended perfectly.

Doug Campbell: Bass. Doug is a talented multi-instrumentalist. He is equally adept on bass, guitar or keyboards and performs with several of Charlottesville’s better know bands, including Abbey Road, Mid-Life Crisis and of course, Cherry Red.

Max Hoecker: guitar, sax and vocals. Max is a true triple threat. He was Max in the Morning, featured on the Big Greasy Breakfast on WWWV for many years.

The name, Cherry Red, comes from the lyrics of the Stones song, “Can’t Always Get What You Want”.

“We decided we would have a soda, my favorite flavor, cherry red”.  Cherry Red wants to be your favorite flavor when it comes to authentic sounding Rolling Stones music. All Stones, all the time…dance little sister, dance.
